TNNA 2015

Vivian and Marie just returned from five days in Columbus, Ohio -- soaking up fiber inspiration at TNNA (The National NeedleArts Association) Convention 2015. Here are some of our highlights!
We met Mary-Heather and Sarah from Ravelry (they were awesome and very helpful!) and (bottom right) Vivian posed for a photo during her baby hat project with Donna at Deep South Fibers. We fueled ourselves with coffee and pastries and enjoyed some amazing fiber displays, including the giant ball of yarn with needles at the Colinette display!

We were excited to sit with Maridee and Barbra from Yarnover Truck! We loved hearing about their mobile fiber business in Southern California, and we learned that Barbra (who works for Disney Studios) was the model for the knitting scenes for Rapunzel in the animated movie Tangled, and for Kanga in the movie Pooh -- how cool is that?

We {heart} designers! We were so excited to meet Ysolda Teague, Andrea Rangel and Carina Spencer -- they were lovely! Don't you just love that vintage bicycle? We also had a chance to chat with Pam Powers, Heather Zoppeti, Amy Herzog, Toby Roxane and so many other wonderful, creative people!

Madelinetosh was just one of the many wonderful fiber booths we visited and drooled over. We loved spending time with Malabrigo, Manos, The Fibre Company, Knitted Wit, and so many others (including some new ones we won't be telling you about just yet -- stay tuned)! We came home with tons of awesome ideas to share with you!
We really enjoyed visiting with Heidi from Pepperberry Knits (her cashmere bundles are some of our favorites), and had a chance to catch up with Michele from PDXKnitterati (whom you might remember as a recent guest designer at Tangled Purls). No trip is complete without the PDX Carpet cameo!

Stay tuned as we bring some of the new ideas and products from TNNA to the shop!

Sunshine & Superwash

It's nearly June! Where does the time go?

We have been filling the shelves with new arrivals!
Look at these rich jewel tones in Allegria from Manos del Uruguay!

New shades of Rios by Malabrigo are on our shelves!
This is one of our favorites for worsted weight projects.

It's never too early to start thinking about knitting for fall and winter.
These new colors from Manos are fabulous!

Arroyo by Malabrigo is a delightful superwash sport weight yarn -- perfect for this time of year. We've just brought in some new shades you will love!

The Nymphalidea KAL has been a lot of fun, and the results are spectacular!

Stay tuned for news about our upcoming trip to TNNA -- we'll be bringing back tons of great new ideas and inspiration to share with you!

Our Week in Stitches

Here's a look at what you missed this week, and a little forecast about what's up ahead!

We had a wonderful day with Michele Bernstein of PDXKnitterati. She spent a full day with us teaching classes, and sharing ideas. We fell in love with her Tilt Shift Wrap, Rosaria, Zen Rain Shawlette and so many others (and they're all buy-in-store on Ravelry!).

We had fun trying on her trunk show samples and getting some tips on fun new ways to wear shawls. A big thank you to Michele for spending the day with us!

Here's what's new at the shop this week

We have a lovely new trunk show from TinCan Knits! Stop over and see it while it's at the shop -- only for a limited time. There are some fabulous pieces in this show that you won't want to miss!

New Fiber!
Introducing a new line of summery fiber: Cobasi DK (cotton, bamboo, silk and elastic nylon).
We have a great range of colors to choose from for your spring knitting!

We also have oodles of new colors in Avalon (cotton/acrylic), Luna (100% cotton with a twist) and also replenished our basin of kitchen cotton! These are just a few of the new shades you'll find...

Just Keep Stitching

We have been enjoying extra time with our fiber friends this week! We had a great group for our Nymphalidea Cast On Party, and also had a chance to visit with many friends who stopped in over the week to show off their projects and stay awhile to knit with us. We like to think we have the happiest, coziest little social spot in Salem! (If you haven't stopped in to knit with us, consider yourself invited!)

We have gorgeous new shades of Manos Allegria on our shelves. These beauties are hard to resist!

Also from Manos, we have a terrific new selection of Maxima. This is fabulous yarn for felted bags and slippers, for cozy sweaters and for scrumptious accessories. And did we mention it's easy on the budget, too?

Books, Books, Books!
Need a little inspiration? Just look at these fun new books we've added!

Happy stitching, friends!

It's KAL Time!

Please join us for our Nymphalidea Knit-a-long! The cast-on party will be at Tangled Purls from 12 - 3:00 tomorrow, May 6th. If you haven't yet stopped in to select your fiber, we have a lovely display of gradient color families to tempt you.

This delicate shawl was designed by Melinda VerMeer as an homage to one of the largest families of butterflies, and it's a tempting canvas for color play and creativity. We can't wait to see what you choose!

Sailing Into Spring!

We're sailing into spring at Tangled Purls! We're finishing projects left and right, changing up the displays, planning for new classes and events, and enjoying the gorgeous spring weather.

Registration for new classes is now open -- our teachers have some fun new techniques and projects to tempt you!

Join us this week for our first Pop-Up Class! Wednesday, April 29th from 12 - 1:00. The cost is $5 and includes supplies! Registration is not required, but space is limited to arrive early to get a spot. Come find out what to do with a pom-pom maker, get some hands-on practice and go home with some fun ideas!

We've been knitting up a storm! Here are a few of our recent shop and staff projects:
Vivian knit this darling version of Dangling Conversation with just one skein of Shibui Linen.
It's a lovely accessory for spring and summer.

Marie just finished this light and airy version of Brickless (she used just one Zauberball!).
Brickless is perfect for social knitting -- it's easy to remember and knits up quickly!

Erika recently finished her Simple Lines Shawl in Madelinetosh Toshmerino Light. Isn't that color just gorgeous?

This is Lisa's second Shoulder Cozy (by Churchmouse). The Shibui Linen and Silk Cloud make a delicate, versatile shawl that provides just a bit of extra warmth!
We had a wonderful time at our Knitter's Pride "Needle Speed Dating" event last Saturday! Our guests tested many different varieties of needles and helped us select a new favorite for our shelves.

Last but not least, don't forget that every Tuesday is Stitch Doctor from 11:15 - 12:45. For just $10 you can bring your current pattern and project and get your questions answered, get "unstuck" or have help making sense of a confusing pattern. Stay as little or as long as you like during the Stitch Doctor clinic!

Happy Stitching!

Skacel Fun!

We had so much fun at the Skacel Tasting Party last week!
Joanne Ellis from Skacel brought some wonderful gifts for several lucky customers.
Kate won a goody bag!
We made new friends and shared fiber inspiration.
We're in our happy place.
We tried a range of lovely Skacel fiber, including some that are new to our shelves.
So many patterns, so many fibers, so little time.

It was a fabulous event. Thanks to all who came!
Happy stitching!
